KAPALUA RESORT, MAUI, HAWAI‘I (Decdember 30, 2009) – The PGA TOUR returns to Kapalua Resort’s Plantation Course January 4-10, 2010 with the season-opening, champions-only SBS Championship. PGA TOUR fans can look forward to experiencing the first SBS Championship to be held at The Plantation Course and share in the excitement as the professionals compete for a 5.6 million dollar purse. Eligible PGA TOUR professionals competing in the SBS championship consist of the champions from the 2009 PGA TOUR season, providing a rare opportunity for golf fans to get a first hand look at the action and their favorite players. Qualified SBS Championship players include defending champion Geoff Ogilvy, Retief Goosen, Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker, Kenny Perry, Angel Cabrera, Rory Sabbatini and many more. Practice rounds begin January 4 and 5, followed by the Pro-Am on January 6 and professional rounds on January 7, continuing until the final round on Sunday, January 10.
This year, island visitors and residents can take advantage of new ticketing options and advanced purchase rates including the “Good Any Day” and “Weekender” passes. An incredible value for only $90, the Weekender includes two Saturday and two Sunday tickets, four coupons for lunch at Spectator Village and a 15% discount in the merchandise tent. After January 3, 2010, Weekender tickets increase to $125. Good Any Day passes provide access to the Pro-Am, first and second rounds for only $15 in advance or $20 at the gate. The third and fourth round Good Any day passes are only $20 each in advance or $30 at the gate.
Season passes to the SBS Championship are also available and provide unlimited access to the entire week of events, including the practice rounds, Pro-Am tournament and the professional competition for only $55 each. After January 3, the season pass price increases to $80.
These advance ticket prices will be available online only at www.kapalua.com from September 2009 through January 3, 2010. Tickets purchased online can be transferred by email, and lost and stolen tickets can be replaced.
Tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate during the event. Children under the age of 16 enter free with a ticket holding adult.
