AT&T Pebble Beach pro Am February 10 - 13, 2011: This week holds a tricky selection for our fantasy team as the field is as strong as ever with the normal influx of international players. As everyone knows by now ImuaGolf participate in Yahoo's Fantasy golf, which allows for picking 2 players from an A group, 4 players from a B group and 2 players from a C Group - for more details please see Yahoo Fantasy Golf. After a somewhat rocky start of the 2011 season Jim Furyk is back - the 2010 winner of the Fedex cup and he is our dark horse for the A group followed by Phil Mickelson. As Phil might continue to struggle this year with his arthritis we rather use the 10 tournaments start early in the year as we assume he will have a similar year to last year - great start + some majors and then nothing. For the A Group we will start with Phil for Day 1 and 2 and then we'll see over the weekend.
For the B group we are still struggling with the selection as the last couple of weeks showed us that from the B group most of the top 10 finishers are not playing this week besides Vijay Singh and Tim Clarc. That being said it opens up for some outsiders and dark hourse to take advantage of that opportunity. After some inside information we did hear that Davis Love and Hunter Mahan looked good through training rounds and the course should fit Vijay Sing so that adds up to 3. The dark horse for this group will be Richard S Johnson - Richard lost his tour card last year, but he did win an European Tour event and he has increased his workload during off season, new clubs adds up to our pick (in addition to being swedish :) ).
The C group - well...we must pick Mike Wilson...already 2 time winner on the tour we bet on a 15 place finish this time. As the dark horse we must pick our favorite Jesper Parnevik (yes another Swede). After being injured for years, lost his tour card, selling his house and in bad shape this will be the last try to redeem himself, get back on the tour and move forward...as long as his back holds up he can be in contention with any player on the tour - so far this year it has not held up...this weekend maybe?
Give us your thoughts on this grouping or overall thoughts on players for the weekend.
Thanks
