Plantation Course Maui, Hawaii January 6th, 2011: So it is that time of the year again, what we all have been waiting for since the FedexCup culminated and ended the 2010 season - The PGA Tour kicked of its season opener in (as always) beautiful Hawaii today. The only noticeable difference compared to last year is that the event has changed sponsor from Mercedes to Hyundai...other than that it feels and looks the same...the field is comprised of only PGA Tour winners from last year, which in itself creates an exciting field which should provide an indicator to what is to come of the new year, what does 2011 hold?

What we did see in the first day of the Tournament of Champions was low scoring by expected and not-so expected players. Leader after the first day is Byrd and Pettersson - not necessarily two of the names that we believe will have a major impact on the tour, but the  following trio (placed 3rd and T4) will be interesting to follow -  Ben Crane, Bill Haas, and Charley Hoffman.

Other noticeable information is that Ogilvy had to withdraw after stepping on a reef in shallow water - maybe focus on golf not surf Geoff
