Waikoloa, Hawaii, July 8, 2010 — The U.S. Women’s Amateur Sectional Qualifier was held today on the Island of Hawaii at the beautiful Waikoloa King’s Course. A field of top women amateurs from around the state of Hawaii and international representation from the Philippines competed for two qualifying spots on the challenging Waikoloa Kings Course.

­­­Love Lynn Guioguio from Rose City, Philippines was medalist with a score of four under par 68 while Kacie Komoto from Honolulu, Hawaii took the second qualifying spot with a score of three under par 69.­­­­­­­­­­­ Early morning high winds and quick greens made for challenging conditions to start the day.  The Waikoloa Kings course was in championship form, firm and fast.  Waikoloa also served as the host course for the US Open local qualifier in May.

A one hole play-off for the first alternate was played between Cassy Isagawa from Wailuku, Hawaii and Allisen Corpuz from Honolulu, Hawaii.  Cassy Isagawa won the first play-off hole with a par to earn the first alternate spot.

The 18-hole Qualifying event is one approximately 20 to be held around the United States over the next few weeks.  Top players from each sectional qualifier will advance directly to the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship that will be played August 9 – 15 at Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, NC

The U.S. Women’s Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association.
