The Big Island Country Club is located 2000ft above the ocean on Mauna Kea. The course offers amazing views of the Pacific Ocean and Kohala coast as well as Mauna Kea. The high altitude makes the climate cool and the trade wind light. The course is challenging, fun and very well maintained. The course is designed with the surrounding environment in mind. There are several water hazards in play. One of the par three holes features an Island green surrounded by a lake – this is the only Island green in Big Island.

Kona Country Club's Ocean Course is located next to the Pacific Ocean and features a couple of holes next to the ocean. The course opened in 1966 and designed by William Bell. It offers amazing oceanfront and mountain views. The Ocean Course is easier than Mountain Course but still offers a challenge. The Mauna Kea Golf Course features 7,370 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The Golf Course was built in 1964 and re-designed and re-opened in 2008. Originally it was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr and it has now been completely refurbished by his son Rees. The course is challenging in that it does reward accuracy especially from the tee where length and accuracy will setup an easy approach shot, which with a longer iron will be an issue due to the sloping greens that even if you hit them will roll off and require chip back to the green - an approach with a wedge will make this course easier.

The Mauna Lani North Golf Course features 6,913 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The Golf Course was opened in 1981 and features rolling fairways with (smooth) lava rocks as hazards in the fairways and surrounding it. Kiawe trees surround portions of the fairways and greens as well as elevated fairways and greens that is a huge contrast to the South course where the water hazards come into play. The Golf Course was opened in 1991 and features natural rough along with pahoehoe and lava rock, which needs to be avoided. The south course runs along side of the Pacific Ocean, which will make this course trickier than its sibling the North Course due t he existence of both lava rocks and natural water hazards. An example of this is the signature hole #15, which is also one of the most photographed holes in the world - the player needs to hit a tee shot over the ocean elevated hundreds of feet above the ocean to an elevated green.

The Waimea Golf Course features 6,661 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72. The Golf Course was opened in 1991 and with its design (by John S. Sanford) it is following the Scottish links features with astonishing views of the Pacific Ocean and the dormant volcano Mauna Kea. The golf course opened in 1990 and is designed by former British Open Champion Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish and it is a challenging course with enormous lava rock formations, wide lakes and is a "Must Play" for any level of golfers. The green fees shown are good for all-day play. The ladies' tee also has a men's course rating of 63.7 and a slope of 110.
