U.S. Open 2010 Pebble Beach June 20th 2010: McDowell is the U.S. Open winner of 2010. After leader or co-lead ffor the last 3 days McDowell clinches the title ahead of Havret.
So the curse is over for the Europeans after 40 years, finally a European winner even if it was not the assumed champion as McDowell is not the type of star as Donald, Westwood, Stenson, or Karlsson provides. Nevertheless, the last 2 days have proven that McDowell has what it takes to maybe not go deep, but to clinch on to the lead he got from Friday - grinding to a 1 shoot victory over another European - havret. Els's 3rd spot concluded teh dominance of international players - what happend with U.S. golf? Actually nothing, just one of those things - small margins and if we do look at the elast 10 majors it has been close calls everytime.
